We are pleased to Introduce you to one artist we simply can’t get enough of.
MOJVKI from South Africa. See the designed Q&A on our Instagram.
How did you get into making music?
I got into music from just playing around at first. My friends & family’s music knowledge also played a role in me attempting it. I first began on a smartphone at 13/14 yrs then transitioned into DAWs that my one friend had one on his laptop & I’d go to his place every weekend to practice making beats.
How is the music scene in South Africa?
The music scene in South Africa is actively growing rapidly, it’s quite popular now with the import of AmaPiano so that’s great. People in SA are slowly becoming more explorative in what they listen to as well, the scene has always been great but its levelling up even more now.
Making this I was inspired by the first time I had the Caipirinha drink haha and made this track after that experience, very Brazilian inspired of course.
How would you define your sound?
I’d describe my sound as a blend of my interests such as being Sample driven, incorporating percussive rhythms, light synths & unorthodox hip drums.
I made this track being inspired by Peruvian music and the rhythms they have with their drums, layering it with Hip-hop drums, then of course Incorporated a high-pitched sample from Mint Condition to add the smooth or sweet effect to the song.
Which artist or sound influence you the most in your work as a creative?
There’s too much to mention, but I would say artists like Dpat, Atu & Sango are my principal sources of influence when I create.
Which artist would you like to collaborate with in the future?
AbJo for sure.
