Diggin' w/ Thurston

Born and raised in Southern California, Thurston was fortunate to be introduced to music and turntablism at an early age thanks to his father, Mr. Choc, from the world-famous Beat Junkies and a pillar to Los Angeles radio & DJ scene. In his teenage years, his music taste shifted from classic hip-hop to more experimental artists like Daft Punk, Flying Lotus, and DJ AM, which inspired him to dig deeper with his fascination for music. He became a bedroom DJ and producer using a single CD-J, mixer, and SP 404 sampler to create mixes and sample chops. In 2018, he joined the structure program at the Beat Junkies Institute of Sound where he learned about the true art form of DJing and turntablism directly from the pioneers. During the pandemic in 2020, he independently released his first edit pack titled ‘Thurston’s Versions Vol 1.’ He also dropped a single ‘The Beat Comes Down,’ an Anderson .Paak flip, via Up.Records from Vancouver, CA. This became his most successful track reaching almost 30,000 plays on SoundCloud. Thurston maintains several residencies all over Los Angeles and has traveled to other major cities in the US to showcase his craft. He’s most excited to play Coachella 2023 campgrounds stage and has shown no signs of slowing down to be on track to be one of LA’s best open-format party rockers. In this Article, Thurston is showcasing 5 of his current heavy rotations. Discover his works also on Soundcloud & Instagram.

Tokischa feat Anuel AA & Ñengo Flow - Delicuente

Tokischa is one of my favorite reggaeton artists of the year. Her flow and cadence make it the perfect track to play at any party.

SPINALL, Fireboy DML, 6lack - Sere

Easily my most played song of the year. Afrobeats took the US by storm this year and I felt that this song resonates with crowds the most.

HABIBEATS - Baby Keem

The homie, Habibeats, from the Bay area, sent me an edit pack and I found this gem where he flipped this baby keem track with a more up-tempo feel. This is one of those songs that will make DJs look at your screen and shazam.

Flo Milli - Conceited

I’ve always been a fan of Flo’s beat selection and this song is no different. Once you hear this in a club, I promise it will be in your rotation.

Thurston - And The Beat Comes Down

Shoutout to the homie J.Digs of Up.Records in Vancouver. I contacted him when I first had the idea to release an edit pack in 2020. He featured this single on the Up.records SoundCloud and to this day, it is my most played edit
