Introducing: EVÎN

We are more than happy introducing this really talented artist to y'all. Not only because she is a local artist, but EVÎN became easily one of our biggest current founds in the worldwide music world.

How did music came in to your life?

Music has played an important role in my life for a long time. I've always been singing and my mother supported me at a young age to take piano and guitar lessons. Back then, I already loved to write songs, and that still has not changed.

I grew up by sounds of my idols like Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, and Hiatus Kaiyote. Also Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and Sufjan Stevens had an impact on my musical journey and starting my Jazz singing degree has been a major step for my music as well.

"Walls" is probably the most soulful and intimate song I've ever wrote. This one is like a diary for me, in which I was able to process my feelings. I hope that people, who listen to this song can do the same with it.

How would you define your sound?

My sound has influences of Soul and R&B. I also like jazzy chords and melodies. But what's really important to me is that my lyrics have a certain meaning. I also love to experiment, when I'm doing music on my computer but the pure sound of a real piano or guitar get's me excited as well. All of this mixed together with my oriental roots and my love to Hip Hop is where my sound comes to life.

Which artist or sound influences you the most in your work as a creative?

So many artists inspired me on my way. Many for a certain time, but some artists that stayed in my mind are James Blake, FKA twigs, Sufjan Stevens, Hiatus Kaiyote, Erykah Badu, Rosalía, D'Angelo, and The Beatles.

How would you describe your creative process from an idea to the final release?

I don't have a certain way. Mostly my way of an idea to a release starts with me playing piano or guitar. During that, I come up with melodies, small parts of the lyrics or chords, which I play into Logic. That's where drums, bass, samples and synths etc. will be added. When I'm satisfied with my idea, I get in contact with my producers Jako and Karl Kindermann and we finish the project all together. Only with them my idea evovles into a song.

When I wrote "Undefined" I already made way more music on my computer like back in the days. I instantly could get my idea into the vibe I was looking for. This gave me such a feeling of empowerment to produce a song all by myself. It was also important for me to tell an empowering story through my lyrics in this one. No matter what we are going through, we have the power in our own hands to define our destiny and rewrite the story.

Which artist would you like to collaborate with in the future?

There are so many! But who comes first to my mind is Slowthai. I really love his style and music and we definitely would do a great Track together.
